Blue Shell Shawl

I made this one fairly quickly for a lady who is seeing her mother soon.  Her mother is the one in need of a prayer shawl.  God bless them both.

Extra Ingredients

Soup sounded good tonight, so I looked through the cans of soup I have stocked under the counter.  The most appealing was a can of New England clam chowder.

Now I've had REAL New England clam chowder and the canned stuff is NOT it.  So I enhanced the ingredients.  If I'd had a can of clam bits, that and a dab of butter might have upgraded the flavor.  I had no clams.

Here's what I added:

About 1/4 cup diced turkey ham
1/4 cup bacon bits
1/4 cup frozen corn

It turned into a really excellent chowder and definitely better than plain canned soup.

Purple Shawl

In making prayer shawls and lap robes for hospice, I'm trying not to make any two the same.  This is number 10 and, so far, I've had fun trying out different patterns.  However, if I make very many more before Valentine's Day, I may have to count color changes as part of "no two the same".  There are certain patterns that I enjoy or that work up quickly.

I'm going to give my hand a few days off from crocheting.  I don't want to do damage like I did last year.  At some point it might decide not to heal up like it did last time - and even that took several months.

Green Shawl

This one is not for hospice.  Someone I love is going through a tough time and I want to bless her with something special.

Two More Prayer Shawls

Pink V-Stitch Shawl

I finally figured out how to do the yo-yo crochet stitch.  It isn't hard, but every strip starts from a beginning chain.  This one worked up pretty quickly.

I originally wanted to make one shawl or lap robe a week until Valentine's Day.  I seem to be averaging twice that much.  I don't know if I can keep up the pace.  We'll see.

More Crochet

I finished a lap robe and a shawl for hospice.  I especially like the aqua shawl.

And a little baby crown.

Another Kindness by God

I've long been told that God didn't tell us when Jesus would come back for one good reason.  People would do whatever they wanted until just before the day and then would "repent" or appear to so they would be ready when He showed up.  This is a good reason and probably true.

I seem to have found another one by accident.

In watching world events and matching them with Bible prophecy, late this summer I started focusing on the Feast of Trumpets this year.  At the time, there were about 5 weeks left until the feast.  Having picked the day, I went into something like a deer in the headlights period.  I froze because there wasn't enough time to accomplish anything with more than a very short fulfillment.  I had time to mow the lawn but not to send out any manuscripts to magazines.  And I certainly couldn't expect a story to get out of the slush pile, let alone see another book come out in print.

It's a kindness that God did us by not letting us know the return date.  We would likely lose focus or over-focus (is that a word?) if we knew for sure.

So the best advise while we wait is what Jesus gave us in the parable of the talents:
"And he called ten of his slaves, and gave them ten minas and said to them, 'Do business with this until I come back.' ( Luke 19:13  -New American Standard)

Jesus said, "So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."  Matt. 24:44  From that verse we know that He won't be coming back on December 21, 2012.  I guess it will be any other day.  lol

God be with us all.
