2020 - Never Thought...

I grew up during the Cold War. There were school drills to get under your desk in case of nuclear attack. Like that would have saved our lives!

I was convinced that we would all be gone before I lived to see 30. And once I lived past thirty years, I was sure there was nothing on the other side of the year 2000. Nostrodamus said so.

I remember calling my college love on the day he turned 65 and said, "Do you remember when we weren't going to live past 30 and now you are 65? Happy birthday!"

I visited with my mother on Memorial weekend a few years ago. I remember the shocked look on her face when I said that I was about to go on Medicare. I'm not sure why she was so surprised. After all, she was 89 at the time.

Now it is about to be 2020 - making me think that hindsight is ...

Would I change my life if I could do it over? I've thought about that fairly carefully. The answer is - No. I would do what I did. I would make almost all of the same choices.

My life hasn't been flashy or really special. I have followed my dreams and seen them quietly come into being.

Since fifth grade, I knew I was called to be a teacher. I followed that calling in the classroom for about 20 years. Even when I'm not doing it full time, I still help people find the information they need every day at the library, and I have Sunday school on the weekends.

I had no children of my own, which saddens me on occasion, but I helped raise hundreds of children who still get in touch with me now and again. (I still send out a Christmas letter to MY fifth grade teacher every year. lol)

I always liked writing and storytelling. I've seen some of my stories go into print.

No, I'm not going to climb into a rocking chair and while away the time until I die. Wouldn't that just be boring?!

I'm simply going to have to set new goals. Perhaps more writing. I don't know.

More blog posts would probably be in the list. Watch this space for more to come.

Thanks for visiting with me,

Kathi

(Honestly, I hope Jesus comes back before too much longer. Just how bad was it in the days of Noah and Lot? Aren't we getting close to that?)
