Christmas Letter, 2024

 Christmas, 2024

To those whom I love:

Merry Christmas to you all and all of God’s best blessings for your New Year.

I find that I am grateful for many things that have happened in this current year.

My mother-in-law was having serious medical issues in the spring. We went to stay with her for a week in May to see what we could do to help out. Her doctor worked out a way to take care of her issues and she celebrated her hundredth birthday at the end of July. That is a mile marker many people don’t reach and we celebrated with her this amazing accomplishment.

My Aunt Miriam will reach the same century mark this coming June. Happy coming birthday, Aunt Mim.

Early in October, I went to Illinois to join some high school classmates for our 55th high school reunion. I haven’t seen some of them in decades! It was a lot of fun to enjoy their company. So many of our group is already gone and I knew I had to be there this time while we can still travel.

In November, I heard that my brother needed a simple procedure, and I knew I should be there to help out. He came out perfectly fine, thank God. I stayed for two and a half weeks and enjoyed my mother and brother’s company. Of course I crocheted during the evenings and inspired both of them to take up yarn crafts. Don’t know that John will actually work on crochet, but my mother has been a knitter for a good portion of her life and wants to try going back to it. (P.S. Les didn’t burn the house down while I was gone. Phew!)

Les and I are doing our usual things. He enjoys going to various meetings and doing some writing, and I keep a garden, read, and crochet for people our church family prays for. This year I had fresh tomatoes up until I went north in November.

Angela visited here in November, but we were also able to see her at Mom’s 100th and while I was north both times. It was wonderful to see her so many times this year.

I will be teaching creative writing to the local homeschool group this coming year. That will be my joy and delight – to be teaching again.

My love to you all. I pray that we will soon see Jesus’ return. But, whether it’s this coming year or not, I pray we are all blessed in Jesus’ Name.

Love, Kathi
